Every provincial program on this page can be read alongside the federal National Heat Pump Rebate, which the PMO says can be combined with provincial programs.

Home Energy Assessment program (Aug 2026 guide)

  • Requires an EnerGuide assessment.
  • Rebates: $300 per ton for ductless mini-splits and $500 per ton for centrally ducted heat pumps.
  • How tons are counted: on net added capacity, with 1 ton = 12,000 BTU/h rated at 47°F.
  • Moderate Income top-ups (pre-approval required): $500 per ton ductless and $1,500 per ton ducted.
  • Cap: the total rebate is capped at the cost of the upgrade.
  • Equipment: must have a check mark on Efficiency NS's heat pump list.

Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (as of the June 2026 guide)

  • Amount: eligible costs up to $15,000. Efficiency NS says it could stack to a potential $25,000 with Moderate Income ($5k) plus Home Energy Assessment ($5k).
  • UNCERTAIN: federal registrations closed June 30, 2026, so confirm it is still available.
