How we make money

Last updated

RebateOnEnergy is free for homeowners. Here's how the site pays for itself, so you can judge what you read.

Our rebate guides are independent. No advertiser pays to change rebate amounts, eligibility rules or our explanations. Every rebate page lists its official sources and the date we last checked them.

We earn money from:

  • Featured installers. Installers can pay for one of up to 3 featured spots at the top of a city or province list. These are labelled Sponsored. Featured isn't a ranking or a recommendation, and the rest of the list is shown in a neutral order.
  • Sponsorships. A company (for example a manufacturer or lender) can sponsor a page, the savings calculator or our newsletter. Sponsored content is always labelled with the sponsor's name.
  • Quote referrals. When you ask for quotes and tick the box to share your request, the installers you chose may pay us a fee for that request. We share it only with the installers named on screen (no more than 3), and only with your consent.
  • Affiliate links (if any). If we ever earn a commission from a link, it's marked as sponsored.

What we don't do: we never sell your personal information, and we don't take money to say a product qualifies for a rebate.

Installers must confirm their licences and insurance before a featured spot goes live, but we don't do the work and can't guarantee it. Check licences, insurance and references before you hire. Questions: hello@rebateonenergy.ca. See our Privacy Policy and Advertiser Terms.
